Pinot Noir, La Encantada Vineyard Block 7, Pommard Clone
When winemaker Joey Gummere and I visited the La Encantada Vineyard in early September, we were thrilled with the fruit- small berries, tight clusters, uniform in size with deep blue hues, just gorgeous! We were very proud to have this be the source of our first wine. This small hilly site in the far western hills of Santa Rita AVA was first planted by Richard Sanford in 2000. As one stands in the vineyard looking west at the Pacific Ocean, you can feel a constant westerly breeze, a hallmark of the region. The fruit was picked at the optimal time to capture the perfect balance of the fleshy Pommard clone grapes and firm acidity. We hope you enjoy the beautiful now and many years to come.
