Syrah, Thompson Vineyard, Alisos Canyon, Santa Barbara, CA

The Thompson Vineyard is in the newly appointed Alisos Canyon AVA, wedged in between the Santa Maria Valley to the north and the Santa Rita Hills to the south, just outside of Los Alamos.  It’s warmer days and cool evenings from the ocean breeze allows for the fruit to ripen at a very slow pace.  This creates a greater complexity of flavors and structure.  Our rows come from the original Block 1, which was planted 30 years ago, developing more intensity with each passing year. We have a small amount of Block 2 Syrah and Petite Sirah that we sourced in 2020.

We work closely with vineyard manager Jason Grupp on his team who spend countless hours in the vineyard tending to our vines.
